Bangladesh government will launch the Probashi Card (Expatriate Card) on a pilot basis in August 2026

The Bangladesh government will launch the Probashi Card (Expatriate Card) on a pilot basis in the second week of August 2026, with Janata Bank issuing the Probashi Debit Card in the first phase. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

The government plans to issue 50,000 cards by December 2026 and 200,000 by June 2027. In the second phase, all card-related services will be managed through Probashi Kallyan Bank.

The dual-currency card aims to improve the social and financial status of Bangladeshi expatriates by providing access to international banking and payment services, along with a wide range of privileges. These include airport lounge access, faster immigration clearance, airline and hotel discounts, insurance coverage, remittance rewards, loan facilities, priority access to government services, healthcare benefits, rehabilitation support for returning migrants, and simplified financial transactions.

The Probashi Card is part of the government’s election commitments, following the rollout of the Family Card, Farmer Card, and Sports Card programmes. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman directed officials to ensure that Bangladeshis living worldwide are brought under the programme and to modernise the National Skills Development Authority to meet current needs.
